Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison, Carl Sagan, Isaac Asimov, and others
My first book, The Bermuda Triangle Mystery – Solved, was endorsed in March 1975 by Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison (1887 – 1976), America’s most distinguished naval historian. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1943 for Admiral of the Ocean Sea, his biography of Columbus, which included a detailed analysis of his journey across the ocean. He was awarded a second Pulitzer Prize in 1960 for John Paul Jones. He won two Bancroft prizes for other books on the Americas, and he also wrote a fifteen-volume history of the U.S. Navy in World War II. Admiral Morison was a sailor and a scholar. He knew Columbus, the ocean, and good research and writing.
In a letter to my publisher dated March 27, 1975, Admiral Morison wrote: “Anyone who has been bemused by the Bermuda Triangle literature, which mostly belongs in the categories of myth and fable, should read Mr. Kusche’s book. You will find there an objective estimate of all the alleged mysteries of the alleged Triangle, and learn that most of them can easily be explained by natural causes.”
In July 1975 I received a letter directly from Admiral Morison. He wrote: “In a new edition (of The Bermuda Triangle Mystery – Solved) I would recommend (1) Search for the origin of the (Bermuda Triangle) hoax. (2) Show up some more of the nonsense of the Triangle such as the (Bimini) road under water, the misquotations from Columbus, and other sources. SE Morison.”
Admiral, that is what this website is all about. I suggested that concept for a book to my publisher in 1975, but they were not interested. A common assumption seems to be that most readers want to be titillated with fantastical stories about UFOs, ancient astronauts, and other allegedly paranormal subjects such as the Bermuda Triangle, and that they find realistic information about such subjects to be disappointing and boring. That is a sad view of the intelligence of the public, but then a legitimate question is – are they correct? Personally, I find reality, such as the exposure of the Bermuda Triangle delusion, to be far more interesting.
Incidentally, the Navy frigate USS Samuel Eliot Morison was launched in 1979, a high honor to the then-late admiral.

Others who agree that Larry Kusche has solved the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle:
Isaac Asimov, Scientist, Author: Reading it was like drinking a glass of sparkling spring water after being offered nothing but mud.
Carl Sagan, Astronomer, Science Writer: Your book is a welcome alternative to the standard credulous and uncritical works on the subject.
T.M. Dinan, Lloyd's of London: This book is essential reading, for here the mystery is solved.
Admiral O.W. Siler, Commanding Officer, U.S. Coast Guard: Your position is wholeheartedly endorsed by the Coast Guard.
Walter Sullivan, Science Editor, New York Times: Thank goodness there are a few rational human beings dealing with this subject.
Martin Gardner, Scientific American: Kusche's research is impeccable, his arguments unanswerable. His solution will convince everybody except those simple-minded believers who refuse to listen to anyone except the hucksters of irrationality... I agree with him totally.
James Randi: Congratulations on the quite excellent job you've done to bring some rationality to the very aggravating Bermuda Triangle "mystery."
Philip J. Klass, Author of UFOs Explained: The book should resolve all doubts.
J. Allen Hynek, Director of the Center for UFO Studies: Head and shoulders above what else has been written. It is bound to clarify matters for all people who think.
(Note: Klass and Hynek, listed just above, were on totally opposite sides of the UFO question, but they agree on my solution to the Bermuda Triangle.)
Barry Farber, talk show host, WOR Radio, New York: I wish I had the time to hawk this book door to door as my contribution to a national mental health campaign. A trumpet of reason in a sea of false alarms!
Clarence E. Olson, St. Louis Post-Dispatch: A triumph of careful research... Kusche has dug down to the hard rock of indisputable fact.
Robert Durant, Pursuit: An extraordinary book that lives up to its rather bold title.
10/16/13 Larry Kusche (Kusche rhymes with bush)
